Our rhythm and motion active class for Seniors combines the joy of music with gentle physical exercise, designed to enhance both mental and physical health. In a supportive and engaging environment, participants will explore rhythm, movement, and the therapeutic benefits of drumming.
Storytelling & Discussion – Begin with a 10-minute session where we share stories about the power of music and explain the physical and mental health benefits of drumming, especially for seniors.
Rhythm Warm-Up – Engage in a 10-minute rhythm exercise, using throwing and catching in time with the music as a fun way to warm up and improve coordination.
Break – A short break to rest and refresh.
Drum Actions on Exercise Balls – For 20 minutes, we incorporate drumming movements on exercise balls, blending rhythmic exercises with gentle fitness movements designed specifically for seniors. These exercises improve mobility, balance, and strength, all while staying in sync with the music.
Rhythm and Motion is a music-driven workshop designed to boost physical and mental wellbeing. Each session begins with storytelling and discussion about the healing power of music and drumming, followed by rhythm-based warm-ups that improve coordination and focus.
The main activity features a fun 20-minute drumming workout using exercise balls, combining gentle fitness movements with rhythm to enhance balance, strength, and mobility. This uplifting class supports body and mind while reducing stress and promoting joy.
The groove and connect workshop invites participants to actively engage with music through
listening, rhythm, and collaboration. This session combines live performance, discussion, and
interactive music-making, creating a relaxed and fun environment for everyone.
Live Showcase – The workshop begins with an energising live performance, setting the stage for the interactive session ahead.
Discussion on Drumming & Music – A brief conversation about the role of drums in music, as well as the physical and mental health benefits of rhythm and drumming. We’ll also touch on experiences from touring and the broader music industry.
Play to the Music – Engage in body percussion and use various percussion instruments to play along with the music and the drummer, fostering a sense of rhythm and participation.
Call-and-Response & Singalongs – Performers will engage directly with the group,
encouraging call-and-response interactions, singalongs, and fun rhythm games.
Participants will be invited to clap along and play percussion instruments, making the session highly interactive and spontaneous.
Global Rhythms Drum Circle – A drum and percussion circle will form, bringing together rhythms and instruments from around the world. The group will collaborate to develop unique sounds and explore different cultural rhythms.
Q&A Session – The session concludes with a Q&A, where participants are encouraged to ask about drumming, music, or share their thoughts and experiences.
Groove and Connect is a lively workshop that uses rhythm and music to support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Participants build coordination through body percussion and instruments, boost memory with rhythm and repetition, and enjoy mood-lifting activities like call-and-response and singalongs.
The session starts with a live musical performance and a discussion about the benefits of drumming. From there, participants actively engage in rhythm-based exercises and end with a collaborative drum circle and a Q&A. The workshop also strengthens social bonds, reduces isolation, and promotes relaxation through global rhythms.
